General Motors Europe (GME) has sales operations in 25 countries comprising a network of over 5000 dealers, each of which operates autonomously whilst within guidelines provided by GM.

In common with many other organisations operating large dealer networks, GME was finding it difficult to effectively control the brand and content of the individual dealer web sites. The company sought guidance and advice when it identified a need for a solution that would enable it to maintain its brand integrity, whilst allowing its 5000+ dealers to build and maintain web sites within their respective countries and territories.

Following extensive research and discussions with numerous suppliers, a Content Management Software (CMS) application which best suited the requirements was identified and selected. CMS allows dealers to build and publish their web site without the need for Internet design skills or technical knowledge whilst also enabling a uniform 'look and feel' to be maintained. It allows dealers to simply select a template, enter their content and submit it for approval via a designated authoriser.
